SIP calculator FAQs
What is a SIP?
A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) lets you invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund every month, building wealth gradually through rupee-cost averaging and compounding.
How does the SIP calculator work?
It uses the formula M = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) / i × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the monthly return rate and n is the number of months.
What return should I expect from a SIP?
Returns depend on the fund and market conditions. Equity funds in India have historically delivered roughly 10–14% a year over long periods, but returns are not guaranteed.
Can I increase my SIP every year?
Yes. A step-up SIP raises your monthly amount each year. Use the annual step-up field in the calculator to see its impact.
